SARAH JOHNSON

A WORD FROM SARAH…

The thing I love most about being an artist is creating artwork that connects with people. Art they love hanging on their wall and looking at everyday. Art that reminds them of the joy and abundance for which we were all created.

I love the actual act of painting. What a thrill to start with a blank canvas and see what the Creator and I come up with together. With every brush stroke, every layer, every color choice, AND every tool - a new work of art, one that has never been created before, comes to life.

I love drawing inspiration from, well, everywhere. Art history, fashion, travels, nature, even things that might seem mundane (I will stop and take photos of shadows if they are in an interesting form). I see every work of my art as a reflection of my past, present, and the future I hope it has in wonderful places.

I love that art is a never ending story - a beautiful exchange between artist and collector. I think purchasing artwork is one of the most powerful exchanges of energy on earth. Something my hands and heart created will find a permanent home in a space where friends and families will convene, meals will be enjoyed, holidays will be celebrated, deals will be closed, patients will wait, and life will....happen.

I love that original art is one of a kind. A piece of original art is something that is made once and there will never be a piece made like it ever again. It was made in one space and time, with the exact shade of paint I mixed that day, with the exact brush stroke my hand made, with the specific intent and energy I put into it. Isn't that powerful? Original artwork is a force - and I love being an artist that brings that into the world.

Do you see it? The way the colors play off each other...the layers of paint...the dark and the light....the extra bit of texture in the far right corner? That was all on purpose.

Do you feel it? The joy, the creativity, the passion, the intent, the lifetime of hard work, the determination, the bravery, the inspiration behind every piece? I hope so.

So as you consider hanging my work on your walls, I hope you know how much I love being an artist, how grateful I am that you are considering hanging a piece in your home or office, and how much joy and fulfillment you get to have from an original piece of work in your home.
